Head of Conservation, Jake Fiennes, attends COP29

Holkham’s Head of Conservation, Jake Fiennes, is attending COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan this week.
World leaders are gathering in the city this week for the annual UN climate meeting.
Jake is attending after being invited by the organisation Climate Action. He will the chairing the Agri-Food Systems Summit on 15th November, and is also involved in various panel sessions throughout the day.
During COP29, the Agri-Food Systems Summit, “will address the urgent need for alignment in strategies, commitments and transformation roadmaps across the agricultural sector as well as spotlighting the innovative technologies that will define the leaders of tomorrow.”
Together, Jake and the panelists will be discussing various themes relating to food, farming and conservation.
The agenda covers key themes including:
- Just Transition: A farmer-centred, regenerative future
- The New Financial System: Changing finance to change the future
- Transparency and Transformation: From offsetting to insetting evolving disclosure frameworks
- The Consumer Transition: Ensuring demand-side buy-in
- An Innovation Driven Transition: From biofertilisers to precision agriculture
Jake hopes that the talks will help to deliver action and finance for innovation at the farm gate level. We at Holkham look forward to hearing about his experiences at COP29.
