We do a lot here at Holkham, and our team is made up of an eclectic mix of roles across the estate. We all share a common goal and an appreciation of the different qualities everyone can bring. Teamwork and collaboration are key — in bundling our skills, ideas, experiences and knowledge, we can create and achieve far more when we work together.

Mutual respect

Mutual respect is key in a workplace made up of so many people. Regardless of role or background, we ensure our culture is a respectful one. It’s what makes Holkham a great place to work, where our team can contribute their ideas with confidence, are encouraged and valued, and can collaborate well. We listen to each other, be that within our smaller departments or in regular Heads Up meetings, where staff members from across the estate can put forward constructive feedback to make Holkham even better.

Sustainability

We’re inspired by our natural surroundings every day and are driven towards our vision to be the UK’s most pioneering and sustainable rural estate. Every member of staff shares this vision. Whether they’re printing less in the offices, choosing eco-friendly suppliers for our shops and cafes, building property or overseeing biodiversity projects on the nature reserve, Holkham staff seek the most sustainable path and do what we can to get there.

Being pioneering requires a team who can challenge one another, in a mutually respectful way. We see challenge as a tool to drive us forward. Go see

Good ideas inspire great ones. That’s why we encourage our staff to regularly ‘go see’ what others are doing. At times, it’s about getting out of the office to chat to colleagues and visitors about what’s going on, taking feedback on board to make Holkham even better. It involves visits to other areas of the estate to learn about what other departments are doing. At other times, it might be trips further afield to gain inspiration from other businesses. There’s plenty out there in the world to stimulate those ‘aha!’ moments!
