Castle Acre Project Update – Groundworks are going in, and meet Rik the Site Manager

On behalf of the Holkham Estate, we are very pleased to bring you the latest news on our Massingham Road development. In total there will be six 2-bedroom properties, five 3-bedroom properties and four 4-bedroom properties. Three of the 2-bedroom properties are designated as affordable houses, two for social rent and one for shared ownership. 12 properties will be offered for sale on the open market.
From an onlooker’s point of view, the site is not looking too exciting at the moment, but we have been very busy doing much groundwork before the first bricks are laid. Local firm C J Rust have been doing sterling work for us and dug the foundations and poured for all 15 houses. Suspended concrete floors comprising beams and blocks are complete for four houses at the top of the site and works to build blockwork to support ground floor construction are in progress on another seven plots.
Practicalities are very much the order of the day at this stage of the project and the foul and surface water drainage pipes are being installed. Works to install a new water main have begun and ducting has been installed for new power and data services.
New welfare units for the team have also arrived and we are now able to keep the site as nice and tidy as possible until the project is complete. You will start to see more happening on site as works on external and internal wall construction is commencing early this month. Other contractors will then be joining C J Rust on site and so will our very own Site Manager, Rik Potter.
Rik came to Holkham after 18 years with R G Carter and brings a wealth of construction experience gained on a wide variety of projects up to £10M in value. Rik has been managing a site in Burnham Thorpe, but this job is almost finished and he will then be full time on site in Castle Acre.
