Holkham car parking tariff increase statement
Parking prices at Holkham will rise on 28th March for the first time since March 2022 following a review that will bring our tariffs in line with other regional car parks.
With the effects of inflation in the 24-month period since the last review, a revised pricing structure has been unavoidable.
For shorter two hour stays at our main car parks – Wells Beach and Lady Anne’s Drive – the rate will rise by just 10p from £3.50 to £3.60, while the all-day rate rises to £13.50. Holkham Village Car Park remains free for the first two hours with an all-day rate of £6, which matches the Holkham Park Car Park.
Having invested heavily in a bridle path at Lady Anne’s Drive to improve safety for riders and other visitors, a more comprehensive review of pricing for horseboxes and trailers has resulted in an increase from £20 to £25 to reflect this investment.
Q&A
Why have you increased prices for car parking at Holkham?
Following modest increases for several years prior to March 2022, this is the first review for over 24 months, during which there has been significant inflation, and our prices fell behind other regional car parks.
What are the 2024 charges compared to 2022?
The price for a two hour stay – the most commonly used band – has increased by just 3%. The larger percentage increases are generally to rationalise the prices across our own car parks and bring them into line with other regional car parks.
Why are some price increases as high as 40%? (Wells Town 4hr-rate, £5 > £7)
The most commonly used band – up to two hours – has increased by just 3%. The Holkham Beach, Wells Town Car and Wells Beach Car Park rates have been increased to £7 for an up to four hours stay bringing them into line with other regional car parks.
Why have long vehicle (horsebox and trailer) parking rates risen so steeply?
We have heavily invested in a bridle path which improves safety for riders and other visitors, and therefore have had to increase the parking charge for horseboxes and trailers.
Are yearly car parking passes still available?
Yes, yearly car parking passes are still available as an option for regular visitors, and represent very good value, starting at £61 (for the Wells Town Car Park) through to an Estate Pass, which includes parking in Holkham Park, Lady Anne’s Drive, Beach Road and Freeman Street, plus standard entry to Holkham Hall and attractions in the main visitor season (March to October) at £202. Prices for yearly car parking passes have increased by around 9% – less than the rate of inflation in that two-year period.
