The Victoria: A dog friendly hotel in North Norfolk
Roam and then relaxin 4 star, dog friendly comfort
Are you and your pooch on the hunt for a dog friendly hotel in North Norfolk? Well, when we say we’re dog friendly, we really mean it!
The Victoria is a four star hotel on the coast road at Holkham, near the much-loved seaside and harbour town of Wells-next-the-Sea. We sit at the gates of Holkham Park – home to Holkham Hall – and overlook the Holkham National Nature Reserve. We’re also just a short walk from the beautiful wilderness of Holkham Beach, one of the UK’s best beaches. Whether your pup prefers a paddle in the sea or plenty of greenery to explore, they’ll find it here. And humans love it here too.
All ten hotel rooms in the main building at The Victoria are dog friendly. Your pooch can join you in our Two AA Rosette restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as in the other public areas of The Victoria, and all of our staff will be thrilled to see them. We do ask that they’re kept on a lead please.
In the room, your pup will find a bed as comfy as your own, as well as tasty treats to tuck into during your stay. After all, it’s their holiday too!

FAQs
It really is! North Norfolk is known as one of the most dog friendly regions in the country, so we’d highly recommend it as a holiday destination or weekend getaway with your pooch.
There are beaches, coast paths and countryside to explore by foot or paw, and you’ll find that most cafés, shops, restaurants and pubs also welcome dogs.
Why not come and see for yourselves?
Yes, please keep your dog on a lead when moving around the hotel and using the restaurant and bar areas.
No – dogs must never be left alone in the hotel bedrooms. You’re welcome to bring them downstairs to dinner, breakfast and the bar and lounge areas, and they’ll love exploring the Norfolk villages, coast and countryside with you.
You’ll find a dog bed, treats and a dog towel waiting for you upon arrival, so your pooch can start getting settled as soon as you’ve checked in.
Poo bags are also available to purchase.
Absolutely!
Nearby Holkham Beach and Wells-next-the-Sea Beach – both walking distance – are both predominantly dog friendly, though there are certain parts which have restrictions, particularly during ground nesting bird breeding season in the summer. However, there’s still plenty of opportunity to let your dog off lead on these beaches so they can have a good run around.
Brancaster Beach, just slightly west, is also dog friendly (with some restrictions), while Old Hunstanton Beach is dog friendly year round.
If you prefer shingle to sand, Cley Beach is a great option to the east.
There is an outside area and facilities to wash dogs, so muddy paws are not a problem!
There is plenty of outdoor space at the hotel, including a large green area just at the back of the hotel. This is not fully enclosed.
There are lots of dog bins around – please be respectful of other guests and pick up after your dog.
Treats are always available in our restaurant and will usually be offered by a member of the team, but feel free to ask!
Dog sausages are also available at breakfast.
