What’s on

Nature Explorers this February half term

Join us this half term for fun and frolics come rain or shine!

We have a trail around the park about birds, a free craft for kids to take home with them, plus a pop-up bookshop! So dress up warm, pull on your wellies and head to Holkham for some half term family fun!

And if you’re visiting on Sunday 16th February, there’s a very special lapwing making workshop too (extra charge applies).

Bird trail

Birds are all around us and, just like us, they have their own unique quirks and stories! We’ve got a gentle trail around the park so you and your family can stretch your legs this half term and learn a little about the feathery friends that call Holkham home this time of year.

Free crafts!

When there’s a winter chill in the air, birds need us more than ever. Every day this half term we are running a free craft station where between 11am and 2pm you can make your very own pine cone bird feeder to take home with you and put in your garden (or hang on a tree on your next dog walk!)

Pop-up book shop with Norfolk Children’s Book Centre

Although February is a cold month with short days, it is perhaps the best time of year to snuggle up with a good book and let young imaginations run wild. That’s why we’re thrilled to be welcoming back the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre for half term (excluding Monday) where you can browse their incredible selection of children’s books for your family. Whether the young person in your life is interested in nature, animals, cars or fairies, this pop-up bookshop will have something for everyone.

Norfolk Children’s Book Centre storytelling

Listen to wonderful tales in the Education Room for free on Saturday 15th February at 2pm, Tuesday 18th February at 11am and 2pm and Wednesday 19th February at 11am and 2pm.

High Ropes Course

Amazing views await those brave enough to make the climb! Begin your trail of discovery through the treetops, over wobbly crossings and swinging bridges before getting your feet safely back to the ground with a descent down our two ziplines.

Book your slot here!

Cycle Hire

Exploring Holkham on two wheels allows you to pack so much more into your visit. Why not hire a bicycle from our Cycle Hire Centre? There are bikes to suit all ages and abilities. Open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 5pm (last hire at 3pm) this half term. Collect your bikes from the hut next to the main Holkham Park car park.

Winter spotter sheet

Holkham is so beautiful this time of year (even if it’s cold and windy!) and there is so much to see by way of nature. We’ve put together a list of all the natural wonders of the season for you to spot around the park and become a wildlife expert!

Woodland play area

Enjoy a run (or swing, or slide) around in our play area, which is open daily throughout half term for little legs to blow off some steam, weather permitting.

Holkham Stories

Discover fascinating stories about Holkham past and present in our interactive exhibition. (Entry charge applies)

Courtyard Café and Gift Shop

The Courtyard Café and Gift Shop will both be open 10am-4pm throughout half term, so you can enjoy a bite to eat or a browse after all your nature exploring!
